10 Security Cameras with Free Cloud Storage

One of my biggest gripes with new security cameras is most of them require an additional monthly subscription. This subscription is for cloud storage. Cloud storage is used to save events that occur because of a motion detection. So, I decided to find 10 high-quality wireless security cameras that do not require a monthly subscription.

I define wireless security cameras as cameras that do not require a connection to receive power or transmit audio or video. There are wireless security cameras that need to be connected to a wall outlet to provide power, or to a video recorder to transmit video.

The list will include features and benefits of each camera, as well as why O may look at a different camera.

Here is the list:

  • Blink XT
  • Hikam A7 Wireless Outdoor Security Camera
  • Optjoy Wifi IP Security Camera
  • iSmartAlarm iCamera KEEP
  • Foscam E1 Wire-free Home Security Camera System
  • Kodak CFH-V15
  • GJT Wireless IP Camera
  • Wyze Camera
  • GJT Smart Video Doorbell
  • Yeoman Video Doorbell 906P

1. Blink XT

This camera provides high definition video, instant alerts and live viewing. In addition, this outdoor camera includes night vision, and motion detection. Finally, this camera also has a temperature sensor, and is weatherproof.

Why I like this camera

I like this camera because this is one of the only cameras that has a temperature sensor. In addition, this camera is powered by two AA batteries and lasts up to two years. This camera also has a one-way audio, so you can hear and see exactly what is happening.

Why look at a different camera?

I would look for a different camera if you are looking for a two-way audio with your security camera. I prefer two-way audio to one way because two-way audio allows you to communicate with the person on the other side of the lens.  If someone is where they shouldn’t be you can stop them in their tracks with a simple “HEY.”

Also, this camera is less than a pound. This is one of the lightest outdoor security cameras on the market. Also, you can find outdoor cameras with a wider field of view (110 degrees).

2. Hikam A7 Wireless Outdoor Security Camera

The Hikam A7 offers a fast and easy install, 960P high definition video, digital zoom, and night vision. This camera also has motion detection with email alerts. These email alerts include attached snapshots of the events.

In addition, this camera supports push notifications, an SD card slot, is compatible with Amazon’s Alexa. This camera also has night vision up to 50 feet, and a one way microphone.

Why I like this camera

I like this camera because of the email and push notifications, human detection, and its ability to be used both indoor and outdoor. The microphone can hear up to 20 feet, and is waterproof. I do like the size of the onboard storage of up to 128GB.

Why look at a different camera?

I would look for a different camera if the definition is important to you. This camera falls just short of the 1080P recording standard. Also, in general, I prefer wireless cameras to wired. Wired cameras come with a built in limitation of the cord length.

Also, the viewed of view is narrow at 80 degrees, and you can find cameras with longer of night vision distance. While I do like the free cloud storage, I would like the clips to be saved for longer than 3 days.

2. Optjoy Wifi IP Security Camera

The Optjoy Wifi IP Security Camera provides 1080P high definition video and a complete 360 degree complete. This camera provides two-way audio and night vision up to 33 feet. The indoor camera has Pan/ Tilt/ Zoom (PTZ) with customer presets. This camera can be installed in less than a minute and the ability to set motion detection areas.

Why I like this camera

I really like the 360 degree coverage, and the 115 degree viewing angle. Cameras that feature PTZ have a much smaller field of view. I also like the motion tracking abilities, and the ability to install and configure using a QR Code. Finally, I like the ability to have multiple clients viewing live or recorded feeds.

Why look at a different camera?

As with some of the other cameras, I prefer completely wireless cameras. I feel that wired cameras offer some limitations like you must be within a certain distance. Also, if the camera is unplugged, you lose the ability to record.

I also like cameras that provide a greater distance than 33 feet. Finally, this camera is not waterproof. Although it’s an indoor camera, I like waterproof.

4. iSmartAlarm iCamera KEEP

The iSmartAlarm iCamera Keep features Pan/ Tilt? Zoom (PTZ) technology. This camera also provides on demand streaming, motion, and sound detection. This camera has a 350 degree field of view and night vision.

Why I like this camera

I like the PTZ technology and the 350-degree viewing angle. I also like that this camera can be used as a stand-alone camera or a part of a security system. I also like the fact that this indoor camera has on-demand streaming, night vision, and sound detection.

Why look at a different camera?

This camera “only” provides 720P high definition video. Many other cameras in this space offer 1080P high definition video. Also, this camera records in 10 second clicks, does not have activity zones for detailed motion detection and does not have two-way audio. This camera does not have local storage, but that isn’t a deal breaker.

Note: The iCamera KEEP Pro has 1080P high definition video, activity zones, two-way audio, and local storage. The Pro also has motion tracking and sound recognition.

5. Foscam E1 Wire-free Home Security Camera System

The Foscam E1 features two-way audio and 1080P high definition video. This camera is completely wire free, and offers live viewing. This camera is waterproof and 110 degree viewing angle. You can connect up to 4 cameras to the Foscam base station. Finally, this camera also features night vision viewing and advanced movement detection.

Why I like this camera

I like this camera because it is completely wire free. I also that encryption is supported on this system. This camera also features two-way audio and a 100 degree viewing angle. I also like the battery life on the out of the box rechargeable battery.

Why look at a different camera?

The cloud storage for this camera only lasts seven days or 1 GB of storage, whichever comes first. The 4 camera limit is smaller than other cameras in the market. Also, at the time of this writing, the camera does not support a personal computer or Mac web interface. Also, the 25 feet night vision distance is shorter than other cameras in the market.

Also, the operating temperature (32 – 131 degrees Fahrenheit) seems much smaller than other cameras. If you live in the north as I do, you may have issues with this camera working in the winter.

6. Kodak CFH-V15

The Kodak CFH-V15 indoor camera features remote Pan/ Tilt/ Zoom (PTZ) technology. In addition, this camera features two-way audio and night vision. With the PTZ technology, this camera has a viewing angle of 350 degrees. This camera can be set up in five minutes and is powered by iSecurity+ app.

Why I like this camera

I like the PTZ technology and the 350-degree field of view. I also like the 105-degree tilt, remote live streaming to a smartphone, and quick set up. I also like the night vision viewing distance and smart detection. Also, like the two-way audio ability. Finally, this camera works with Amazon Alexa. I also, like the 128 bit SSL security.

Why look at a different camera?

I would consider a different camera if you are concerned with the limiting 720P recording. Most of the other cameras in this market offer recording in 1080P. Also, this camera only has a free one day cloud storage, with the option to upgrade to premium plans.

The premium plans have a maximum storage plan of up to 30 days. In addition, the premium plans are more expensive than some other cloud storage options. As I’ve mentioned, I prefer cameras that are outdoor and indoor, and waterproof.

7. GJT Wireless IP Camera

The GJT Wireless IP Camera is 100 percent wire free. The camera has an onboard SD card, remote viewing, and two-way audio. This camera has passive infrared motion detection and real-time video. This camera also provides push notifications to your mobile devices and set the motion sensitivity.

Why I like this camera

I like this camera because it is completely wire free. I also like the remote viewing, two-way audio, and night vision. I also like the cameras ability to adjust the motion sensitivity, and the ability to receive notifications to your mobile device.  This camera also works with Amazon Alexa. Most of all, I really like the wide viewing angle. This camera has the second widest viewing angle of the cameras listed.

Why look at a different camera?

This camera only records in 720P. It appears to also use AA batteries which means you will spend additional money on replacing batteries. Also, the wall mount appears by a magnetic connection between the wall mount and the camera. I would prefer the connection to be more secure than magnetic. This is also an indoor only, nonwaterproof camera.

8. Wyze Camera

The Wyze Camera features 1080P high definition recording. This camera features Pan/ Tilt/ Zoom (PTZ), night vision, and provides two-way audio. This camera had a 110 degree viewing angle and 360 degree range. With this camera you can set auto scan and motion tracking.

Why I like this camera

I like the motion and sound detection that send notifications to your mobile phone. I like the two way audio and continuous recording. I also like this camera works with Amazon Alexa and 360 degree coverage. I also like the night vision distance of 30 feet.

Why look at a different camera?

The only downside to this camera is the rolling 14 day cloud storage of alert videos. I would like to see storage at a minimum of one month. 14 days seem very short when compared to other cameras. Also this company is relatively young when compared to other manufactures.

9. GJT Smart Video Doorbell

The GJT Smart Doorbell is one of three doorbells on this list. This camera features anti-theft, remote control, and no wires. This camera also feature passive infrared detection and smart night vision. This doorbell battery can last up to 6 months. This doorbell also includes an 8 GB SD card slot.

Why I like this camera

I like this doorbell/ camera has a wide 166-degree viewing angle. I also like the push notifications and the anti-theft design. I also like the passive infrared motion detection and the two-way audio. In addition, I like the real-time audio and the long battery life. I also like the fact that you can share clicks with friends and family.

Why look at a different camera?

I think the memory card storage could be a little bigger. Also, the 720P video recording is lower than the industry standard of 1080P. Also, this camera doesn’t appear to be waterproof, which is a must if the camera is going to be outdoors.

10. Yeoman Video Doorbell 960P

The Yeoman Video Doorbell offers a wide 180-degree viewing angle. It also features free lifetime storage and local storage. This camera also provides two-way audio and smart night vision up to 20 feet. This camera also features a quick set up and a battery life of up to 6 months. This camera is also waterproof and works with Alexa. This doorbell also comes with an indoor chime and can be wired using your existing doorbell wires.

Why I like this camera

I like this camera because it includes a door chime, a wide viewing angle, and two rechargeable batteries. I also like the ability to record in the cloud or to an SD card. I also like the fact that this doorbell is waterproof and the two-way audio. I also like the option to have wired or wireless power. This camera will work in just about any temperature.

Why look at a different camera?

This camera only records in 960P. Many of the other cameras/ doorbells in this space record in 1080P. The cloud storage is limited in that the cloud storage is a rolling 7 days of recording. Also, the 8GB SD card slot is less than a number of its competitors. Also, the night vision is on the lower end of 16 feet.

My choice

Of the cameras listed, I prefer the Blink XT Camera. Although the camera records in 720P, the additional features make up for the video quality. I like that the 2 AA batteries will last up to 2 years, which is longer than any other camera on this list.

I also like that you can place this camera inside our outside. You also have the option to plug in the camera with a micro USB. In addition, the camera is weatherproof if you opt not to use the micro USB port.

Runner up

A close second was the Yeoman Video Doorbell. I like this video because of the wide viewing angle, two-way audio, quick install and local storage. Also, I like that is it waterproof, and has smart night vision. With smart night vision, you can automatically or manually adjust the sensitivity on the camera.

Conclusion

To conclude, I have put together a list of 10 security cameras that have free cloud storage. Out of the 10 cameras, 3 are doorbells. These cameras have a variety of features including: 180 field of view, 2 years of battery life, and night vision of at least 16 feet.

I recommend that you take the time to find the best security camera for your needs. If you can find a camera that offers Pan/ Tilt/ Zoom purchase that camera.
